By recognizing threats to public land and mobilizing communities, Defend Cumberland works to preserve the integrity and function of natural resources through responsible land stewardship in the Green-Duwamish watershed.
The Green-Duwamish River Watershed runs through the heart of Western Washington; from Mt. Rainier to the Puget Sound. The proposed Cumberland Mine & Asphalt Plant threatens the quality of local water supply and inhibits ongoing conservation efforts by multiple community, non-profit, and governmental agencies.
If permitted, this proposed project would impact public health and safety, recreation, and environmental integrity for generations to come.
